Japanese Pampas Grass Field in Sengokuhara

Sengokuhara Susuki Prairie, which has been selected as one of the 50 Scenic Spots of Kanagawa and 100 Flower Spots of Kanagawa, is best visited from late September to early November when susuki (pampas grass) is in full bloom and covers the entire area.

The captivating sight of its white flower stalks waving in the wind attracts countless tourist every year. In March, you can also witness the impressive yamayaki (mountain burning) event that is held to protect the surrounding environment, during which susuki is razed to the ground by crimson flames.
