[Koto Sanzan] Saimyoji Temple

“Koto Sanzan” refers to three Tendai sect temples : Saimyoji,Kongorinji, and Hyakusaiji. These temples are located east of the lake on the western side of the Suzuka mountain range, an area renowned for the beauty of its leaves in autumn.

The main building and the three-story pagoda are designated as national treasures of Japan. Saimyoji has been also selected for the Omi Water Treasures project, and from early December to early April, one can see the camellias in bloom, including trees that are over 200 years old.
