Mishima-Taisha Shrine

Mishima-Taisha Shrine has prospered since ancient times as the leading shrine in Izu Province.
It is known as a shrine where Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed for divine assistance in restoring the Minamoto family to power.
The primary deity enshrined here is Mishima Daimyojin, which is an amalgamation of two deities, Oyamatsumi-no-mikoto and Tsumihayae Kotoshironushi no kami.
A sweet Osmanthus tree, said to be over 1,200 years old, grows pale yellow flowers that deliver a sweet fragrance.
