Enjoy an unparalleled hanami experience at the over-100-year-old TAKANAWA KIHINKAN, a venue rich in history and tradition.
Originally built in 1911 as the Takedanomiya Palace, the guest house was renovated in 1972 by renowned Japanese architect Togo Murano and now stands as the Grand Prince Hotel TAKANAWA KIHINKAN.
This event includes a special guided tour of The KIHINKAN, a place rarely open to the public.
*Please note that the guided tour will be held in Japanese.
Reflect on its history, which spans generations, while enjoying a sustainable afternoon tea that envisions a brighter future.
The exclusive menu for this event, crafted by the Hotel’s patissier, features sweets made with locally sourced ingredients from Tokyo, bran flour scones paired with jam made from sustainably selected strawberries, tarts using marmalade peel, and more.
The menu incorporates Seed Paper, known as “Hanasaku Washi,” made from recycled paper with flower seeds embedded.
By soaking the paper overnight and planting it during the spring or autumn planting season, flowers will bloom, and the paper will biodegrade within months.
With commitment to preserving history and tradition, we propose a unique experience connecting guests to a sustainable future.
Enjoy an ethical afternoon tea in an elegant, special space, creating unforgettable spring memories.

Seed Paper® is a 100% recycled paper made from wastepaper with flower and herb seeds embedded.
Each sheet is handcrafted, air-dried, and uses only non-GMO, untreated seeds.
When soaked overnight and planted in soil, the seeds sprout within days, and the paper gradually biodegrades, returning to the earth within a few months.
By using printed materials made from Seed Paper, such as cards, you can share the joy of growing greenery and flowers while sending a message of kindness.
Using flower-blooming paper like Seed Paper is a simple action we can take now for a better future and environment.
The menu book for this event uses Seed Paper.
Please take it home as a memento of your participation and enjoy an experience that connects to the future.
